ASSIGNMENT TASKS

TASK 1a (Individual)

Initial Response:
Now that you have chosen your song, you need to write an initial (individual) response to the following:
  • Genre
  • Length of song
  • Style
  • Meaning
  • Imagery
  • Semiotics
  • Initial ideas for your video
**This should be at least 500 words**

TASK 1b (Individual)

Write a proposal detailing your practical  plan for your music video. This must cover the following headings :

 

-Basic information: artist and song titles, message and feelings of song, , target audience(s) of video , summary of video content and concept.

 

-Technical information: describe the purposes , techniques and conventions that your music video will attempt to achieve and use.

 

-Financial information: List the elements of your production and editing that would cost money in a professional context such as clearance to use song, actors , equipment hire etc.  and state if these elements are actually funded by someone else ( e.g college media department budget for cameras etc. ).

PLANNING STRUCTURE FOR ASSIGNMENT 29.3/1.1



  1. Group – Choose your song and brainstorm ideas
  2. Individual – Start your individual planning (1a,1b,1c and 1d on brief)
  3. Group – Each person to present their proposal and ideas to the group and as a group decide on the idea that will work best.
  4. Group/individual – Begin the pre-production process

-action plan/schedule – group deadlines for each task

-personnel list – who is responsible for what?

-location report – include photos, test shoots and analysis of why you have chosen/rejected each location

-Facilities – What facilities do you have available?

-Risk assessments – Arrange meeting with Paul Mottram from estates for guidance or use templates on blog

-copyright/public liability – think about song and filming days and any found footage you will/may  be using

-Codes of practice and regulation – what do you need to consider?

-budget – use templates on blog

-Shooting script – full script of each shot to be given to your actors/dancers and crew before the shoot

-Storyboard – Full storyboard either hand drawn or online version http://www.storyboardthat.com/

-Cast list and call sheets – Audition or choose your cast and create call sheets for each of your actors/dancers. Make sure that they will stick to your deadlines otherwise recast asap!

-prop/costume list – What will you need in your shoot? What costumes will your actoors/dancers wear?

5. Group – Shoot your music video footage
6. Individual – Upload the footage to each group members’ computer and individually edit the footage (sticking to the group’s vision and storyboard)
7. Individual – Evaluate the process and submit your production diary and final edit on blog and hard copy.
